First Week of Classes at Thornton Academy High School in Saco Maine USA
The Thornton Academy High School boarding students are back on campus for the first week of classes, and their first weekend of fun activities. Many families have been curious about what our students will be able to do on the weekends and in their free time during this challenging time. We're happy to report that weekend activities are still fun and engaging, and showing our students the 'way life should be' here in Maine.
Over the weekend, students had lunch in the Old Port (named a top place to visit in 2020), got to know each other at a dorm social by the fire-pit, did some shopping, and got to play sports under the stadium lights. Check out more activities from last weekend:
Last Saturday, students took the ferry from Portland to Peaks Island to ride bikes, explore the gorgeous beaches, and check out historic forts. On Friday afternoon, Mrs. Nasse and Ms. True took students to the beach. It's still perfect beach weather here in Maine! After a day in the sun, students enjoyed an outdoor movie in front of Trojan Hall.
Thornton Academy High School still has a few spaces remaining for Fall 2020. We'd love to have you as a student join in on the fun!

This season, over 75 of our international students are participating in fall sports! Athletics gives international students the opportunity to make connections with local students, become a part of our greater community, and learn important soft skills like leadership and teamwork. Pictured here is Carlos E. (class of '23) from Mexico playing on our varsity football team.
Today we offer more than 50 teams at many different levels, and all students are encouraged to get fit and have fun by joining a team—whether they are new to a sport or a potential New England champion. Many of our coaches also serve as faculty, which allows them to teach and coach through a holistic lens.
